<..have you heard anything about issues with P-MP reliability or what progress is being made in rolling it out beyond Wash DC? I had heard on some thread, maybe Yahoo!, that there were problems with the technology and that was said to explain why TGNT is (supposedly) having deployment trouble..> P-MP is in trials, and as WCII has said, NXLK is answering on their current roadshow and TGNT is finding, it is not ready for prime time. Certainly not insurmountable problems, but will take time nonetheless (don't know a time frame - we may hear some conservative speculation tomorrow). This is one reason why WCII has been emphasizing their strategy which is to use the BEST technology for the local access job. P-P plays an important role for those WCII customers who need and will pay for a non-shared 155Mbps P-P link. Others will want and get fiber (look for a strategic relationship/etc.. with a shorthaul/local backhaul fiber player. Also look for a relationship ("as good as or better than the Williams deal") with a company that can offer overseas network connectivity... the previous two COULD be one and the same. Even DSL will be provisioned for some customers - WCII is building an end to end, access agnostic highband data-capable telecommunications company. Oh yah, they also do content. (For instance look at VERT's rev run rate and compare it to New Media's internet-based rev run rate) In any case, I am optimistic that the next two days and then 2-6 weeks could be very exciting for WCII shareholders and shorts alike <g>. This story is only NOW beginning to get the interest and understanding it deserves - true story: as recently as two weeks ago at H&Q, after the WCII institutional breakout (which followed the main presentation), I overheard one manager asked another, both of whom just heard ~60 minutes of the WCII story - "what kind of *phones* does WinStar use?"! The other guy wasn't sure! So the arbitrage opportunity to scalp the uncertainty and catch this wave (and it's not a technical fluency wave, but a dumb fund-flocking momentum wave) is still ahead of us, so start paddling out boys and girls - surf's coming up (IMO). [Consider stuffing away a few 2001 LEAPs, but do your OWN due diligence - the market can be a real B]
