That is a really neat story, Rambi. And it is a really nice sentiment as well.

I read your post on why people buy homes. We bought this one to have ground to train dogs for field training. Now it it for having horses. Life evolves and so do the reasons for owning property.

You look for a house and worry a lot. Look for the deal you usually don't get. It's a major investment. Feel good when you can get something you can live with and remodel to your likes. Yada yada......I can go on but it's even dumber.

Well, we drove past both houses, and I decided to go for it, the Yellow Brick Elephant (cross between Yellow Brick Road and White Elephant, it's tan brick and white siding. A long story, the new owners put on an addition that looks awful from the outside and wonderful from the inside. Kinda like that tent in the Popeye cartoons, the ones where you walk in and it's humongous inside.)

I called the realtor twice from Fair Oaks, and once when I got home. I got her when I called at home, and she said she didn't get the other two messages. Hmmmm. Anyway, she said she'd call the other realtor and pull that offer. I hope she forgives me, but I don't care, it's my house.

The night we closed on the house and they moved out, we drove out and stood looking at it. It was March, chilly and very clear. Suddenly CW said, "Look up!" and there were several shooting stars, falling over our new home.

The night we closed on our house in west San Francisco, the fog rolled in magnificently, curls of vapor whisping through the cypress trees and eucalyptus, carried by the breeze that wafts up the hill from the ocean, a slightly pungent tinge in the air. The next morning, I went out to proudly survey my castle and found three sizable canine desecrations prominently displayed on my Kentucky Bluegrass.
