You know I do recall that about a year or so ago it was rumored that Microsoft bought a few DST's from Ampex. And that Gates himself was impressed. But no press release. I called Karen about it and she could not confirm that (but she did not deny it). I complained that it would be smart to make a press release about it and she stated that they could not (or would not) make a press release without the other party's approval. Could be Microsoft and Ampex did not want to tip anyone off? Hmmm.
