data rates>

The thin phone sports the MSM 3000 ASIC from Qualcomm. This device and associated software support High Speed Packet Data (or Medium Data Rate) @ 86.4 kbps on forward link at rate set 2 (6 channels) and 76.8 kbs at rate set 1 (all 8 channels). Reverse link is single channel on both rate sets (i.e. 14.4 or 9.6 kbps each). Low speed packet data or asynch is supported at 14.4 or 9.6 kbps as in the case of MSM 2300.

The real question is not just what the MSM 3000 and phones built with it support, but when US carriers are going to support these data rates on infrastructure and the network? The Japanese and the Koreans are ahead of us :-)

Regards,
Sudeepto.

I only know what the advertised rate is. I do not have any insider scoop until I actually get my hands on one. My guess it is like the so called 56k modem. I rarely get that. I am lucky to get around 44k.
