I was set to put a bid in on a house where the owners were going bankrupt. It was a farm house on 30 acres that the owners had spent $260k remodeling and it could be had for the $118k balance due. I had a friend who worked construction take a look at it and he found several structural weaknesses that were urgent. His guess was at least $100k to fix it. I passed.
