Joan, hostas can be enormously decorative in an otherwise nearly hopeless space.

rhododendrons are my favorite shrub, lush blooms and the colors!!

have you looked at hostas lately? they have dozens of newer varieties, many with brilliant variegated leaves, stunning chartreuses and yellows that light up the darkest beds. Shady Oaks Nursery has a catalog picturing most of them. 800-504-8006. you might want to order one as hostas perform perfect in dense shade.
