Interesting link. I punched in CSCO, TLAB, and ACEC to try to orient myself. Only ACEC was mostly retail, but I wonder if this pie chart just doesn't count wholesale brokers as institutional volume. The pattern of interest spikes for buying/selling is also interesting with Ancor activity mostly at the open. Unfortunately, it is not possible to get current block volume from Nasdaqtrader.com and it doesn't seem possible to get historical data from this site to compare it to block volume.

My hunch is it is more of a marker of wholesale broker activity rather than actual institutional buying. If there is anyone out there who disagrees - I would be interested in your opinion.
