Buddy,

The music player is a much less sophisticated device than the dictation device built for Lanier. Lucent's ePac, A2B, and some type of secured MP3 via the Audio MS4 will be the three compression systems used by all music files which will generate revenue to the ML's and their signed artists.

Lucent and eDig plan to license the ePac codec to consumer electronic companies. If those companies also want a2b, and a secured MP3 in that same player, the company will have to get a license for those other 2 systems. Once that's obtained, eDig will design their player so that whichever compression system the end user downloads to it will work transparently.

Since eDig is the only co. which will do the ePac porting, all consumer elect. co's. wanting all 3 systems, thus universality, will be consulting with eDig.

I cannot see anyone marketing a handheld music device not wanting to be able to tell their customers that their device will work will with all compression systems.

In the real business world, any investor whose primary focus becomes the nitty gritty nonsense stated in previous posts will continue to wander aimlessly through the minefields of securities investing. Those who choose to be caretaking minesweepers are succeptible to similar fruitless meanderings.

Good luck to all.
