What a coincidence Neo, I was a Leftie for a spell as well. I found Hayek and Mises in college, as well as Friedman and Adam Smith. My conversion from Leftism was based solely on economics it seems. :) But then, I started studying philosophy, and it was all down hill to conservatism from there.

Have you ever read any Rawls? Though not a New Lefter, he is an egalitarian liberal. Although his conclusions are questionable, he is nonetheless a philosopher of high calibre. He absolutely made my skin crawl in college, and I wrote more than one thesis on his consequentialism and abuse of Kant.
