"Intel Culture"

I can't imagine any company with a strong culture choosing an Intel-trained CEO. Who is tough enough to actually choose that change. Otellni was Grove's assistant and survived -- he headed for number one, even though he's a non-engineer MBA -- the first non-Ph.D. engineer in line. Can a non-engineer cut it? Could Intel survive a CEO who was not a member of NAE or a fellow of the IEEE? Could we send him back to college for a little while yet?
The thing to watch for is him and Barrett "two in a box." Grove has a few years left, but may get a wild hair and want to do something else.
Ottelini has a problem moving, of course. He been getting handsome slugs of options. This is a lousy time to cash, and worse to forfeit. Is anyone out there likely to beat what he's got. He should make appropriate hints "Oh, another call from HP?" ... and Barrett and Grove should make up up their minds about succession now. Uncertainty never helps a man produce. The whole Intel experience is based on laying it out like it is.
