Richard...I was going to download some free software. The question is, if it says for Win 95, will it also work on Win 98 or do I have to find one that is only for Win 98?

Hi Richard.

>> How are you implementing the last drive command? I take it that it's something like LASTDRIVE=P(or something) in the config.sys.<<

Yes -- it goes in config.sys. I tried lastdrive=h and lastdrive=d just to see what would happen. set at "d", it simply ignored my cdrom. Set at "h", it was the same as without a lastdrive command. So, I left config.sys blank.

>>What type of file system is drive C,D, & E?<<

All FAT32

>>However, try playing with the drive letter assignment in the device manager (95/98 right?) for the cd-rom drive...maybe see if it can accept E instead of F:<<

E: is not an option. F: is the first one available. Windows KNOWS that E: is there, just won't admit it. It really needs its registry twisted...

Remarkable how fragile these Windows systems are <g>
