I think it was last year ; they lost $100 mill. Since then I haven't seen any revenue generating ventures ? Have you ? Unless you consider giving away the JDK and other utilities. Regarding a PC being more expensive to maintain that a proprietary UNIX workstation I find that ludicrous. If we compare using DELL, the PC is 1/2 the price of a Sun workstation and comes with 3 years 24 hour on-site support; nice bonus to start. Regarding quality of components the PC arena is equal too if not better than a proprietary UNIX box. 3rd party software and hardware is not only more abundant but significantly less expensive. Regarding labour maintenance I'd say they are equal if not better than a UNIX workstation since your average user can self-administer the box due to the easy to use interfaces.
