Using logic Charles, something that is lacking in many of your posts. There is no evidence to support the fact that the cost of maintaining/owning a PC versus a UNIX workstation is higher.

Quality of components are equal or better in a PC and they can be found more readily and at cheaper prices. Also desktop business software is more plentiful and cheaper for a PC that UNIX. This is why PC's are used in most offices Charles; because they are cost effective and allow people to be productive.

the study is pretty conclusive..and Gartner isn't the only one. Our cost is about 14k
