Is it correct that Q is planning to continue producing the older models ie QCP2700 etc, but with new the chipsets?

Yes, in one of the recent CC's they made reference to the fact that they were in the process of now producing the older phones with the newer chipsets. They didn't mention exactly which lines they would be continuing in production, but it is a good guess that the 2700 will continue at least until the they come out with a 2760 (thin phone with PCS and AMPS).

And will these larger models have longer talk/standby times than ThinP with internal battery?

Presumably - it would be interesting to see what the new specs are, but I haven't seen them.

The new specs haven't been published. I think the specs will be much improved. I have an 820 with the standard battery and I can say that when in a digital area with good reception the talk and standby times are much better than the numbers published by Qualcomm. One of the features I really like is the back-lit display and key pad. Whenever a button is pushed or the phone rings, the light comes on for a few seconds. In the middle of a northern winter the glow is comforting although I think it must eat the batteries especially if one pushes the buttons a lot but I really don't know.

If the specs are much improved, perhaps Qualcomm will make the slim battery the stock unit. This would breath some new life into the old phone line and be very good IMO. I imagine it will depend upon the efficiency of the new chips in analog mode (I haven't seen these specs yet).

I live in an area that has good 800Mhz CDMA coverage and good analog but not so good 1900Mhz CDMA so I am anxiously awaiting the dual-mode Thin Phone. We have not seen prices of the dual mode Thinphone but I imagine it will be more than the PCS only version. Smile MarginMike!

Profits on the Thinphone will be huge!

I can hardly wait to see what else the Q has up their sleeves!

Don't sell now, the fun is still just beginning.
