Ron the Chinese have good reason to be xenophobic as their past history attests. We assume too easily that they see the world in the same way as we do. As for the U.S. influencing things I was thinking of covert activities by the CIA - but I guess the invasion of the Dominican Republic might qualify, and the attempted invasion of Cuba. Vietnam maybe? China has a lot of skeletons like Tibet - but it's too easy to slide from this embassy fiasco and then site all of China's sins - not accusing you of this - but this is more in response to a lot of what I'm hearing and reading. d
