I love these guys getting all excited before the quarter ... it becomes a major news event when a company like AMAT reports ... got to get those recommendations in before they "beat the number" ... Sidenote: It is Institutional Investor Voting season ... so, when these sell-side guys and gals come to visit their favorite buy-side clients (who all vote) ... and the clients ask for a "big, liquid name" in the semicap space ... AMAT rolls so easily off of their tongues ... couple that with the "near term catalyst" of the "big earnings announcement" ... they can hardly contain themselves ... The amount of twaddle that floats around the institutional world is just incredible! To that end, I am going to make another book plug: mjwhitman.com Definitely a worthwhile read. Marty Whitman is one of the only people that I would trust managing my money if I met an untimely end (the others are O. Mason Hawkins at Southeastern Asset Management and a Mr. Buffett at BRKa/b). --Duker
