PW,

I guess it's not too late to ask: Once you have your ramdrive, what do you do with it?

I didn't realize that it actually showed up as a drive on My Computer. The logical next step would be to put something in it, right? What would that be?

This problem with the disappearing drives hasn't scared me away (yet). I figure if Windows can't handle a little fiddling with the system files, what good is it? Anyways, that's how I learn.

My 95 install had started showing some bugs recently too. If I don't find the drive letter, I'll probably just do another install, or maybe just do an install over the present system to see if that fixes it. I ended up doing periodic installs anyways because of all the fiddling I do -- something always ends up getting corrupted. Besides, I find it enjoyable. My setup isn't that extensive -- a few hours and that's it.

Well, the good news is I have all my drives and letters back in the right places. Bad news is now I'll never know where Windows keeps that information. I checked in the Registry and couldn't find anything that looked like it.

I tried installing Windows over the existing OS, but that didn't do the trick. Maybe it would have worked, but I was choosing NOT to overwrite files, which was the wrong thing to do, I think, for what I wanted to accomplish.

Then, I did a format and re-install and everything's back to normal. Guess I should have waited to see if anyone could come up with a solution. Still interested if anyone has an idea...
