carl, i disagree. a stock trading at $40 assumes at least $2 in annual eps at some time in the future. this is a bare minimum. 4 cents is no big deal. the difference between $1.96 and $2.00 is noise only.

but, at least we understand that some folks think it is totally appropriate to give 2% of one's expected eps 100% of the attention when the other 98% isn't just nonexistent - it is negative!

i'm not hedging. it isn't meaningful to the big picture for a company valued at $40. it is meaningful for a company valued on 1 penny in earnings - or even a nickel in eps. uh, that would be a $4 stock (max!), carl - just in case you didn't know! ;-)
