Not a response, a question for anyone who looks at volume and may have generated volume statistics.

In looking at SFE's daily volume transactions on a tick by tick basis - retroactively - one is struck by the "in" and "out"'s of certain trades, like 3800 or 4200, etc. I was wondering if anybody on the board is somehow keeping a track of them (the above are easier to single out than the 100 size trades, obviously) ... with the objective of getting 1) a better idea of the average trading profile in terms of investment maturity; and 2) a sense of progression of the profile, over time, as volume grows, trading patterns mature, etc.

I am not sufficiently knowledgeable with the business to infer that it's possible to do this relatively accurately; nor to know if any especially practical conclusions could be drawn. It just sounds that it would helpful, understanding the beg/mid/close day patterns, and at 4pm., to know that 3800 and 4200, etc, still has to come through, with the price implications.

Can anybody comment on this? Many thanks!
