If G 3s reach 1,000mz this year why rush a G 4 ? 64 bit OS is needed

Rich , a sensible observation:
>> " ... unless sales slow I think Apple will wait till the slow Q2 2000 to release G4 and spur sales.." <<

Disinformation surrounding MOT's reorg has confused "News" of AIM's PowerPC's path.

For AAPL it remains intact since IBM's 7/21/98 announcement :

" The initial products will be targeted at the Macintosh market and found in Apple computers and Mac upgrade cards. Samples have already been shipped to IBM partners.

While the first versions of the chip will only slightly boost
performance over current aluminum microprocessors, future copper
processors are expected to reach speeds up to 1 GHz (1,000 MHz)."

I agree Mr J cares little about the average investor but he does about the big "six" . I suspect the six prefers that AAPL stay off INTC's and MSFT's radar screens for a while longer .

Yesterday's demo was not G 4 shipment news . Without a 64 bit OS rollout joining the G 4 it's a "so what ?" to non-game developers .

Not to diminish MOT's PowerPC efforts but IBM is the one to watch.
However faith and/or parsing goes along with that recommendation.

Cheers,
