Yaacov, I have visited the Trouro Synagogue, in Newport, Rhode Island. It still functions as an Orthodox schul, you know. It is small, and there is a passageway underground for when it was a stop on the Underground Railroad, helping escaped slaves to Canada. Although the merchants who built it were Sephardim, I do not know if they spoke Ladino, or were assimilated more completely. By the way, you are in Northern Italy, right? What do you think of the Northern League?
