Hi John, the charts are updated.... GRAINS ONLY at geocities.com i added a dec wheat chart. there were some other babson lines, and forks i could have drawn on corn, oats, and beans, but i left them off, since they seemed to make things look too cluttered. <g> I think you can get the idea, as they are.... let me know. Are you or your family going to put some money in a net start up? sounds exciting. I might put some of my own money into the start-ups...... I cannot speak for my parents. My dad might put a few K in with my stake, but that would only be because I ask him to take the risk which in the case of one start-up, seems warranted. the family matters i was referring to were something else entirely, having nothing to do with business. indeed, the ideas are very exciting. I am very dumb-lucky to know some really smart people with fascinating ideas for internet companies. Even if the ideas are total failures upon execution (very likely), i view it as a wonderful opportunity to invest in/work with some very talented people, and try to build something from nothing. It's high risk/high reward type stuff.... investing at this stage of development is a new experience for me. with something like the grains, I tend to possition trade, and not scalp, under normal circumstances. makes sense..... that's what i am going for now too.... since i'm under the assumption (delusion? <ggg>) that the grains have bottomed long term. At the same time, i couldn't resist taking the scalp when prices bumped their head up against he upper tine of the most recent down fork today (see 2nd bean chart) :)
Beans they are long by 26500 contracts based on the May 4th CFTC report so we may see higher prices over the balance of the summer.
I was surprised to see that the winter wheat crop if it is the predicted size will be the smallest since 1971
I'm betting on an uptrend for the summer.... BWDIK. the wheat crop size stuff is interesting, but greek to me. <g> nonetheless, if it's a reason for prices to rally, so be it. It's so early in the season for most of the grains, that the volatile weather stuff, has yet to really move prices in a big way, up or down. I don't know why, but i have this feeling that weather could add a lot of volatility this year due to la nina, and the sunspot cycle.... but maybe it's all just in my head..... like most other things. <ggggg> Talk to you later, take care Regards, Frank
