Edit: Or maybe AAPL is sending advice to SGI: "don't invest foolishly"

Like in INTC's "venture" fund to buy 64 bit programming , unless maybe that OS is a 64 bit Mac OS X ? :

Thought only the Godfather made offers you can't refuse :

" Intel Corp. has established a $250 million investment fund to urge software companies to develop Internet applications for its new microprocessor technology.

Intel aims to increase the market for its Merced chip when it goes into full-scale production, which is expected in mid-2000, The Wall Street Journal reported today.

The chip processes data in 64-bit chunks instead of the current 32 bits. "

Something has INTC worried .

I got hammered a few months ago for speculating something similar. I spoke to someone intimate at SGI who hinted to me that AAPL and SGI were "speaking". This was in Dec. or thereabouts. I took quite a beating since AAPL "didn't need" and "wouldn't benefit by purchasing" SGI.
Interesting that this question has come up again.

>>Does AAPL pay SGI to license GL ?<<

My acronym interpreter is stuck. What is GL?

I'm afraid I don't know enough about SGI to have an opinion. What is it about SGI that would make it a great AAPL investment?
