Sure.

The Pentagon has been against this bombing campaign, with possible exception of some of the bomber jockies who wanted to strut their stuff, since the start.

It was the Europeans, through NATO that were pleading with the US to do something (assuring us of their undying support, of course... :0).

We are doing this to save NATO, and by default, a sense of unity in the fledging EU. Why do we do this?? Because everytime the US has opted to ignore or isolate ourselves from European problems, they come to a boil in such a way that we inevitably get dragged into their wars.

Yes, we are being altruistic, IMO. The only interests we have at risk in the Balkans are the relative peacefulness and stability of Europe.

Maybe that viewpoint requires a bit of adjustment in light of the past 8 weeks of BS.

Regards,

Ron

<<<U.S. diplomacy is something else. As evidenced in its dealings with Vietnam, Nicaragua, Panama, Iraq, and now Yugoslavia, it
consists of laying down a set of demands that are treated as nonnegotiable, though called "accords" or "agreements," as in the
Rambouillet agreements. The other side's reluctance to accede to every condition is labeled "stonewalling," and is publicly
misrepresented as an unwillingness to negotiate in good faith. U.S. leaders, we hear, run out of patience as their "offers" are
"snubbed." Ultimatums are issued, then military destruction is delivered upon the recalcitrants so that they might learn to see
things the way Washington does. >>>>
