John: Here are some resources for information about the smart card:

"What is a smart card? Well, it may appear to be a standard credit card. From the outside there is a definite resemblance. However, smart cards are much more closely related to your personal computer than your regular VISA card. Embedded in the plastic of a smart card are electronics capable of memory and processing. . . ."

Things looked pretty good today, especially the volume. Here's what briefing.com is saying in tomorrow's edition:

"Atmel (ATML 20 7/16 +1 11/16) up on Prudential upgrade from "accumulate" to "strong buy" ... Prudential also upped 12-month price target from $26 to $35... Smart card deal with Microsoft (MSFT) also seen as positive... Look for near-term test of 23 1/4 level."

Dear John: A smart card, in simple terms is the opposite of a dumb card. haha. The credit card you carry in your wallet is a dumb card it contains no data in and of itself. A smart card can carry all kinds of information, such as medical data, identification data etc etc. JDN
