NEW YORK, May 13 (Reuters) - Shares of International
Business Machines Corp. strengthened slightly in pre-opening
trade Thursday, boosted by positive comments from its chief
executive.
The computer giant was trading at 226-7/8 on the Instinet
electronic broker system, up from a Wednesday close at 225-1/8.
Traders described overall pre-open trade as very light
since many European markets were closed for the Ascension Day
holiday.
IBM Chairman and Chief Executive Louis Gerstner said
Wednesday the company remained on track for sustained revenue
growth.
