Hi all, some time ago on an earlier post there was some discussion about the fear of MP3 whipping out the CD market. And I was responding by the fact that a company was working on a security software to avoid piracy. Well here it is for your info. With this system you wont be able to record on a CD the MP3 downloaded on your hard drive but you will be able to listen to it only twice and you will be prompt to purchase it. Even if you try to send it to someone else by Email the person will be submit to the same conditions.

Intertrust is the leader so far.

IBM is working with 5 record companies for a similar tool called EMMS
(Electronic Music Management System) also called Project Madison.
The trials are starting in June 99.

AT&T has a similar project called "A2B Music".
Sony as well and it's called "Super Magic Gate"

Now I hope that CD Plus provides the MP3's to cover that segment.

Cheers!
