How about the carbuerator? :)

It converts a solid flow of fuel (the signal) into a fine spray, properly combined with filtered air and feeds it to the engine (another major part of the device) for combustion (a digital bit).

The Computer (MicroOS) still has to control when it explodes, how much fuel to give the engine, & on & on...

This is fun isn't it...?!

Next thing you know... We'll be going to "Pick a Part". :)

(for those who don't have "Pick a Part":
Here in So. Calif., it's like a junk yard where you go out, find the car you're looking for, then start looking for the Part you need... Once found, you remove it from the old car, buy it, take it home, & put it on your car.)

The talk about competing OS'es is interesting. I find it hard to believe that the 'competing' OS'es are Linux and Windows CE. There is no way that these OS'es can compete at this level. They are too big and bulky. The flash memory storage capability is too small at this time to hold this much software. What are we talking 128Kb? Hell Windows CE devices require 2Meg at the least. This size is not feasible at this time in flash memory.

The beauty of MicroOS is the way it can handle non-contiguous memory pages, as contiguous. I believe that it is how the smooth playback is achieved. This is algorithm-mic in nature. Any competitor would have to be sure to not infringe on the EDIG patents.

Having said this, I believe any competition would have to be an OS that we have not heard of yet. Sound right?
