Ken and the CFO said that they could , they thought , maintain low 40% margains for the foreseeable future. Ken also repeated the opinion that he would be disappointed if Ancor did not get 30-50% of the switch business.

I got the impression that raising money next time is not anticipated to be the kind of unpleasant experience that it was. First, last time there was the overhang from the prior financing which greatly limited the company's options. Second, it did not sound like the would need alot of money. Their current burn rate is 1 mill. a month with 7.5 million on hand and it was more like the CFO would want to go into the next year with a better cash buffer. Definitely, the co. would appear to have a preference for a line of credit or an investment from a client. Obviously, if the stock price stays at a reasonable level, you would think that their money needs would not be very dilutive. Also , as I remember it , they said they get 2-3 calls per week from people willing to help.

The first tier OEMS mentioned by Ken included; NEC,HITACHI(the parent of hitachi data), IBM, HP,SUN, Compaq. In spite of the fact that we hear of different switch makers, I still got the feeling that the main competitor is Brocade.
I asked one of them if the reports from interop were good, specifically, I asked them if they had blown any fuses during their demonstrations: they said reports were good and "no" they had not had any problems. Remember , they were demonstrating the hot swapable and self-configuring plugins ,which allow changes while the switch is operating.I think this is something which Brocade does not currently offer.
