By building the e-tail link metasearch function into Sherlock they are giving consumers a lot of power. Used optimally, it could create a seamless interface between a consumer and all his or her purchasing options that will find the best deal. Shoppping on the web will be very different. .... I was talking with a few fellows in their 50s the other day who are both very successful, very well off, about the creation of new media and what kids need to learn these days to be in the game when they grow up. They both feel cynicism about the internet because of the etail aspect and how everything has to be about money in our society to be important. I'd like to think that the power of the Internet lay in the information that it puts in our hands, but I know that people are going to want to make money by putting that information in our hands. Unlike some progressives, I don't think this is evil, I think this is rather mundane and necessary. Us eyeballs just have to demonstrate our intelligenc. We are the ones who ultimately have control by voting with our keystrokes. :-) Thank you for the post.
