You ARE a quick study. I used to know somethings about Jains, but I forget what, except for a couple of deeply spiritual insights:

1). They control an impressively disproportionate amount of the wealth in India (a complex situation), and

2). They have really cool, really cool, buildings.

and they are stinkers for honesty and conduct.
Purportedly.

I was trying to pick a religion, for my analogy in lust, that would offend only the gods. India is very, very sophisticated. Not in the practical, physical realm; but in the "finer" fields, very impressive. A bunch of thinkers and spiritual brahmins. Hard work, it is.

The important thing about Jainism is that life be preserved. True Jains loll around in their altogether -- except sometimes with a cloth over their snouts to filter out small flying insects. Never show a Jain holy man a view through a microscope, show how permeable a cloth is to microorganisms. Makes 'em gag. A pious Jain will have a gentle sweeper to clear the life forms out of his path. Ghandi was strongly influenced by Jain thought and nudity.
