Here's James Bond, our man of mystery....(it was on bloomberg) Rambus Stake of 5.2% Acquired by New Hampshire Investor Steele Rambus Stake of 5.2% Acquired by New Hampshire Investor Steele Washington, April 26 (Bloomberg) -- Stuart Steele, a private investor who formerly developed apartment complexes and office buildings, reported that he holds a 5.2 percent stake in Rambus Inc. Rambus, based in Mountain View, California, develops and licenses semiconductor technology that enhances the performance of computers and consumer electronics outfitted with such chips. Rambus shares have lost more than half their value since trading for as much as 109 15/16 earlier this year. In January, the company announced that it expects earnings to be no better than flat for two to three quarters. Steele, who lists his address as Bedford, New Hampshire, bought 1.19 million Rambus common shares, according to a Schedule 13G he filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Steele said in an interview he thinks the shares will bounce back. Rambus shares fell 2 1/4 to 53 in recent trading. ''I strongly believe it is going to be a $500 stock in the next two years,'' Steele said. At first glance, Steele doesn't have the background that would make him an expert in semiconductor technology. Steele said he developed apartments that now are managed by EastPoint Properties, a company he owns. Steele, though, says he was involved in the 1989 purchase of a bankrupt software company that later developed a banking software system. The software company sold its banking product for $25 million to M&I Data Services, a unit of Marshall & Ilsley Corp., Steele said. The Schedule 13G used by Steele to report his holdings is an abbreviated disclosure form that only can be used by passive investors. Those who report holdings on Schedule 13G certify that they have no plans for a takeover or active involvement in the company in which they invested. NYSE/AMEX delayed 20 min. NASDAQ delayed 15 min.
