Insisting that it is so, doesn't make it so.

And, in the event that China was really pissed, they could just shoot a few missiles right back at Rome. It is a good thing your Aunt is not a Chinese diplomat, I suppose I could just allow for the fact that she may be.

Are you familiar with the Ohio Class ? heheheh

>>3) Before Jiang left mainland, his gov. took almost all the treasures from Palace Museum. Those treasures belong to China, and those are the accumulation over 5000+ years of Chinese civilization. They mean everything to Chinese people. Even if now, after 50 years, they still haven't finished opening all the cases. One can just imagine how many of them. So before Taiwan declares independent, first returning all China's treasures. Those belong to China, not Taiwan.<<

honest question: In taking that artwork out of the mainland, how much of it was spared eventual destruction at the hands of the cultural revolution?

FWIW

No. I don't think so. Taiwan looks like China, smells like China, and it belongs to China.

So are you saying the residents of San Francisco's Chinatown (or New York for that matter) are now living on the sovereign soil of the Republic of China simply because they look or smell like home??

And exactly what part of China do they smell and look like?? The agricultural deltas and rice paddies, or the conjested cities?? Or is that special all-natural "man-made" fertilizer they use??

China and Taiwan are like two brothers in the same family. So what if they cannot resolve the difference by peaceful means? Then let's fight, just like the Civil war here in the US. And this has nothing to do with any other nations. This is family fight.

The problem is that in your brawling you'll be distrurbing the peace and stability of the neighborhood. I suggest that if you want that gold back (Britain's selling theirs', btw), and those art treasures that you make nice, nice.

Maybe you should look back at the early history of Mao's power and how he attempted to destroy the artistic history of China. If it had not been for the Nationalist Chinese in Taiwan, many of those works of art would not longer exist. Communist doctrine holds litter regard for art, especially if it represents a now non-relevant history. Look around at nations who have been conquered by communists.

The first thing they try to destroy is the religious and intellectual history of that nation. Because history and art represent evidence that an alternative political reality exists. Destroy that art and literature and memories fade.

You know its true Yiwu. Ask your parents and grandparents what happened to art that represented the previous regime or dynasties...

It is only in the past 15 years that Bejing has opened up enough to be willing to deal with a portion of China's colorful and important history.
