My local phone company doesn't know when they will offer ADSL service. I've been using a cable modem for 42 days now and don't really care anymore if they can provide DSL. When wireless service comes down far enough in price, I can easily see getting rid of copper phone service altogether, unless the copper service gets very cheap.

I have had just the opposite experience. I have had a MediOne cable internet connection in the Boston area for over a year. It has never gone down and the connection speed is outstanding.
