I think the lottery system would be logical. They would announce way beforehand when IOI's would be then everyone and their mothers would put in iois. The lottery system would make it fair for everyone to get shares.

The IPO IOI system is a sick, pathetic joke, comparable to a bunch of 15-year-olds all trying to get concert tickets on the phone at once. I ignore it. The time is better spent researching position trades.

E*Trade should also have some sort of IPO preference for Platinum customers who generate more commissions than everyone else. I would accept a mandatory no-flip rule for 30 days if I knew I could get an allocation for every IPO that comes along.

Gee, E*Trade, if you restricted IPO's to your best customers, maybe others would actually trade more to get Platinum status.

What a concept.
