Really?

It is impossible to prove that a manipulation occurred. It's moot. No, GS is not short a big "chunk" of gold. They are only agents possibly operating with discretion. In our society it has become quite chic to assume that allegation is conviction and that there is a conspiracy behind all action. Of what was Bunker Hunt guilty? Buying lots of silver? If you buy lots of something, you are obviously trying to manipulate its price. Right?

You found it annoying because the silver already in your album had appreciated tremendously? No, you don't think of it that way. You think in terms of what more will cost. This has the element of resenting the fact that you hadn't updated the album previous to the move in silver. It has the motive of greed behind it which breeds resentment which is a form of hatred. Trust and hatred don't mix. QED.

GS is not in trouble. They are operating as agents in contracts for mining companies and hedge funds. They're both protected from the upside as long as dp/dt is not too large. All three are essentially indifferent to the price of gold and to GATA.

Let's say there was manipulation going on. So what? What good will that do you? How will that help you to decide whether to buy, sell, or hold? When you believe in this kind of thing it means you're a beginner. Don't feel bad since 99% of the old pros think like that. They never learned. They think they're being cheated. They don't trust. That's why many of them missed the greatest bull market in stocks of all time. You can't make progress in investment harboring these feelings because it distorts you're judgement. Unfounded prejudice is the biggest enemy of objectivity without which you're lost.
