New info on LCOS!
While on the message boards at hotstocktip.com , I noticed
some interesting info concerning LCOS. The No. 3 Internet search
service is negotiating a new venture with a software company that will
help it compete directly with America Online Inc. (AOL), the
Associated Press reported, citing people involved in the discussions.
An announcement on the venture is expected Monday. Separately,
Lycos said it signed electronic commerce agreements totaling $200
million in its fiscal third quarter, the highest for any quarter in its
history. Lycos also said it reaches 51.8 percent of the Internet
audience and has almost 32 million unique monthly visitors,
according to the latest report by New York-based research firm
Media Metrix Inc., making it the leading Internet portal. The company
said it's signed agreements with retailers including Audio Book Club
Inc. (AQZ), WebMD Inc. (WBMD) and closely held Auto by Tel in the
quarter ended April 30. Lycos said other agreements will be
announced shortly. Lycos rose 8 3/4 to 107. AOL, the largest online
service, fell 3 to 138 7/16.
