<Oracle produces the "cadillac" of database software<

Yup, there's no question about it and that's why I still own this stock. But, that doesn't have anything to do with the performance of the stock or the endless diversions from management. The fact is that like so many other "founders", LE has not been able to effectively move the company through this phase in its growth. He's steered left and right, stopped, backed up... He's diverted the company away from the good opportunities too often and pursued silly crap in order to feed his ego(especially his inferiority complex about Gates).

All I can say is that thank goodness ORCL has the position in the DB business that it does and that the people inside of ORCL have worked as hard and effectively as they have to keep the company there. Because, if ORCL wasn't in that strong position and it needed to rely on the other business areas the LE has dabbled in the company would be in real trouble.

I honestly believe that ORCL is at a critical point in its development. It is too large and too complex a business to be run the way its being run. I don't want it to become another DEC.

Olsen waited too long to leave DEC, LE should go while the going is good.
