OT -- Are they not recovering?...The economists I hear are ecstatic about the world economic recovery...

Then I am afraid you are listening to the wrong people. The economies in Asia have bottomed out (mostly) but that is not the same thing as recovery. The latest info from Taiwan and Indonesia shows that deflation continues there. As well, the two best international strategists that I know of, Barton Biggs and Bill Siedman, who have both recently taken a tour of Asia, believe that the "Asian recovery" is overdone and that both their stock markets and the cyclicals will be moderating in coming months as people realize that bottoming is not the same thing as recovery.

Just thought you should know,

P.S. This was not a call on AMAT. In general I'm in agreement with Gottfried.
