Wow, a lot of stuff on here last day.

Apple-SGI. People should really look at SGIs products & business before raising silly options.

Someone stated NCI, LEs Network Computer division uses MIPS. Very old info. NCI is purely a software division now, the original NC concept having failed. They have contracts with Dell and I believe HWP to build computers for their software. I believe X86 based. I'd have to go back to my notes.

Eric stated Nintendo-IBM deal is good for Apple. Why does everyone resist the info we have from IBM themselves that they haven't adopted Altivec. IBM wants to increase Mhz by decreasing die size. Altivec goes against that goal. IBM has made no statement endorsing Altivec. Interesting that if Altivec is superior to high Mhz IBM chips, why did Nintendo who obviously would be interested in superior vector computation choose IBM not MOT? Another question, as Eric has stated G4 has been silicon for some time. Doesn't anyone realize that in this day of rapid product transitions, this is a bad thing. G4 is going to be outdated tech nearly as soon as it comes out. Rich
