Amy,

Re: "This was not a press release from Microsoft. This was a press release
from AMD."

I'm shocked, Amy ... You mean that some on this thread are blatantly HYPE'ing
AMD stock ?? <ggg> Doesn't look like it worked today ... Good catch.

Make It So,

Re: "Also, the MSFT quote does not state AMD was selected by Microsoft as the ultimate gaming machine."

Looks like you may have gotten lost in the title of the press release and missed the point. Here it is again:

"Our goal is to make the best games and games devices possible," said Beth Featherstone, group product manager for Microsoft Games. "So we're excited to have Compaq and AMD in our corner to ensure that Microsoft's games will look, sound, and play their best at E3."

Look sound, and play their BEST. Not second best.

Re: "As an aside, an endorsement quote from MSFT comes with the MSFT boilerplate template. This one didn't contain it."

Incorrect. A joint press release would contain Microsoft boilerplate. Nobody is arguing that this is a joint press release. The interesting thing about this announcement is that the product manager for Microsoft's Games division thinks that Microsoft games look, sound, and play their best on the K6-III.
