Senators try to stop gold sales

WASHINGTON, May 13 (UPI) _ Fearing a drop in value would hurt Nevada"s gold mining industry, the state"s two US senators are asking the International Monetary Fund not to sell some of its gold reserves. The IMF had announced a plan to sell the gold and establish a fund for debtor nations. Last Friday, Great Britain unexpectedly dumped half of its gold reserves, resulting in a drop in price for gold and stock values of gold companies. Sen. Richard Bryan tells KENV-TV he has asked the White House to withdraw its support of the IMF gold sale.
