And yet another possible Allen business -- this one also in the sports field, like the Blazers and Seahawks. It's a very messy deal, involving a league, a state, a bankruptcy court, and much more:

The NHL plan, which Bettman said is strictly a backup in case Lemieux's bid falters, calls for the Penguins to be sold for $85 million to an out-of-town owner -- presumably, Seattle Seahawks owner Paul Allen, the Microsoft co-founder -- in time to relocate for next season.
...
Allen, who also owns the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers, said he has not made a specific bid for the Penguins. But he did not deny being interested in putting an NHL franchise into the nearly new Rose Garden arena.
