SAN DIEGO (CBS.MW) -- Gateway on Thursday said it's investing $200 million in Internet venture firm CMGI in exchange for an about 2 percent stake in an effort to increase its Internet investment possibilities.

Gateway (GTW: news, msgs) also said it will integrate its products and services into CMGI's (CMGI: news, msgs) portfolio of Internet companies. The companies will then treat each other as a preferred vendor.

The companies said they'll "seek out collaborative business and investment opportunities on the Internet.

"Gateway and CMGI share a common vision of the future of the Internet.We intend to collaborate on a range of opportunities, including site development and interactive marketing solutions," Ted Waitt, Gateway's Chairman and CEO said in a press release.

Shares of Gateway rose 3/8 to 68 9/16. CMGI stock jumped 8 to 247 3/4. Located in Andover, Mass., the company operates and creates Internet and direct marketing companies.
