To MM lemmings:

Hey, nice move whacking AMAT to the tune of $4 per share in the last two hours of trading today on the eve of positive earnings and an optimistic conference call. I'm sure a lot of keen reasoning underlay that knee-jerk decision.

See you back here again tomorrow morning on the gap-up opening, or maybe next week sometime when you're sheepishly buying back in the high sixties.

Mark, could you elaborate on "Intel's momentum", without divulging any non-disclusure agreement stuff?

Thanks,

Tony

SIS Aims to Raise US$611M to Build Wafer Foundry Plant
May 13, 1999 (TAIPEI) -- Silicon Integrated Systems Corp. (SIS), Taiwan's largest IC design house, plans to raise NT$20 billion within a year to build a wafer foundry plant. (NT$32.735 = US$1)

It will do so via cash-capitalization programs, global depositary receipts and convertible bonds.

H. M. Liu, general manager of the company, said that the purpose of building a wafer foundry plant is to maintain stable output and increase profits.

SIS enjoyed outstanding profitability of 25 percent in the first quarter of 1999, and average profitability for the entire year is estimated at 15 percent.

The company claims that the figure will surge to 20-30 percent when it has its own wafer foundry plant.

SIS is targeting its sales revenues at US$1 billion in 2002, with annual earnings of US$200 million to US$300 million. Its earnings in the first quarter of this year represented a full 47 percent of its annual goal.

Liu said his company plans to grab a 30 percent share of the local PC chip set market, and transform into an integrated device manufacturer in the future.

He added that SIS is confident that it will be able to reach its goals, as it already enjoys a large share of the low-priced chip set market, and has obtained high system integration ability and high efficiency in production.
