3Com possible takoever target - Business Week
NEW YORK, May 13 (Reuters) - 3Com Corp. (COMS - news), whose stock price has lost almost half its value since just before Christmas, is again being viewed as a takeover target, Business Week reported in its May 24 issue.

Business Week said Mike Murphy, editor of the California Technology Stock Letter, named Ericsson and Lucent Technologies Inc.(LU - news) as among those who might be interested in acquiring 3Com.

''We think 3Com will be taken over at 40 to 50 a share by yearend, or sooner,'' Murphy told the magazine.

However, a 3Com spokeswoman told Business Week it was not the company's strategy to be acquired.

3Com stock has fallen from 51 on Dec. 23, 1998, to close at 26-9/16 on Thursday.
