So you can see the partition when you boot your
normal NT, and it is labeled "J".

Correct

That means you
either have a hell of a lot of partitions or have
relettered them. Which?

Well.. I let NT do the lettering, but I do have 8 partitions spread over 4 drives. On the KOT drive I also store Direct Image files and because of the 2 gig FAT limitation I had to make a separate 2 gig partition for image storage of 3 primary partitions. So theres 3 partitions rifgt there. But I digress....

I took your word that it was
the "next partition over" but how do you know that?

From the Partition Magic graphic display of IDE 1

J is not a very likely letter for the "next partition
over" from C.

I had not done any partitioning on ide 1 since we first set up this machine. All the partitions created since then have been on the other drives using letters D: E F G H I. So when I made the copy of C: to live in the free space after C: PM named it J which is the next available letter.

Now,
from left to right, if C is 1, what number is J?

2...... in the boot.ini I indicated Partition (2).

A few months back I
planned to retire in July,
