I looked into the direct tv offer as well since I currently subscribe to Direct TV. They told me I needed a new dish and that the setup would NOT work with a laptop. Since I do all my work on a laptop, the discussion ended! The rates were also quite high.

Nat,

I have seen the dish and box at no charge after a programing rebate.
The installation is easy and only took me about an hour which also included my reading and learning time. I don't pay any box rental. I only pay for programing.

Try looking on the net for this deal. I'll have a look around and will PM you anything I find.

BTW I paid $799 3 or 4 years ago for the same thing I just told you about.

As a first generation (4 yrs 8 months) DSS owner I can tell you that its a good deal except the rental fee of 5.99 month rental fee. When you buy the dish, the receiver and remote comes in the same box.You may want to question that fee.During April you could have gotten the same package, minus that "rental fee"for 99-149.00.Thats over, so its still a good deal.
