E-Trade is the slowest to execute trades, least reliable and yet the one with the most misleading ads among the online brokers. They fool the public with the promise of getting in on IPOs, and sign-on a bunch of people they have no capacity to service. To get in their micro-sized IPO allocations U must be logged on 24/7 and basically have no life. I happened to actually get in time and place an order for Priceline IPO only to be burned by them since they didn't have enough shares to give all. When I complained they said tough luck!

Switch to Waterhouse or Discover.

OT E-Trade has been a disaster. Not just the last 2 days but for several weeks. Sometimes impossible to log on during market hours. I use several other BD's. Discover Brokerage, a unit of MSDW seems to be the best, plus you get access to Morgan Stanley DW research.
