"The AT&T deal is a bad idea. To make it really obvious, you've got Microsoft in there buying up $5-billion in AT&T equipment," Mr. Metcalfe said. "Microsoft is already a raging monopoly. These combinations should not be permitted."

"Microsoft's products are so bad . . . they have to pay $5-billion to AT&T to get them to use Windows CE. That's about $1,000 a copy. That's quite a bribe. These combinations are all bad and they should not be permitted."
